2 arrested, accused of defrauding local couple over sale of timeshare home

Court documents state that Dana C. Nieland, 69, and Raymond M. Nieland, 84, of Hazel Green, contacted the Grant County (Wis.) Sheriff’s Department in February 2017 to report fraud involving the sale of their timeshare home in Branson.

During a December 2015 vacation in Branson, documents said the couple met with Wise, who was employed by a timeshare company, about getting out of their timeshare contract. Wise agreed to help them, though he was fired shortly after by the company.

However, documents state, Wise continued to represent himself as an employee of that company. The couple met with Horn, who was sent by Wise, at a Dubuque Hy-Vee to finalize the sale of their timeshare. They paid Horn $3,680. The Nielands eventually learned the sale was not legitimate.

The charges were filed in Dubuque County due to the transaction taking place in Dubuque.
